Science Class

Curriculum Overview

In 8th grade science, your child will be an active investigator, not just a learner of facts. They will explore how to ask testable questions, design experiments, and use evidence—from observations to measurements—to develop models and explanations of natural phenomena.

They’ll examine how systems work, identify patterns, and understand how models help scientists and engineers make predictions.

Content-wise, students will dive into earth & space science areas including weather, climate, and how light helps us learn about the universe, physical science concepts such as energy transfers and properties of matter, and life science topics like how organisms adapt and survive and change over time.

Throughout the year, they’ll also learn about technology, engineering, and sustainability, understanding how scientific knowledge and tools help solve practical problems and guide responsible decisions for our environment. This approach emphasizes hands-on learning, critical thinking, and real-world connections.
