How families can support
Family involvement can make a huge difference in student engagement, academic success, and classroom culture. Here are some practical, actionable strategies you can use:
1. Strengthen Communication Channels
-
Regular Updates:
-
8th Grade team is doing a newsletters as to what the students are learning and upcoming events.
-

-
Two-Way Communication:
-
Encourage you to share concerns, insights, or feedback about their child's learning.
-
You can alwasy email or call the school
-
-
Gsmith@bentworth.k12.pa.us
-
724-239-4431.
-
But the BEST way is to get me is.... (see below)

-
Use Digital Tools: Platforms like Google Classroom & Remind:
-
I usually try to send REMIND messages to my Parent/Guardiing list. I encourage you to sign up
-
If you have a question PLEASE send me a REMIND text and I will try to get back to you ASAP
-

2. Families check your child's Google classroom
Please log into your child's Google Classroom regulary
Go to their class
Look at the top for CLASSWORKS.
Click on that
There should be a blue link states:
"view my work"
Here you will be able to see what was turned in, what is missing and what grade they got.
3. Helping out and be Involved
I encourage parents/guardings to be part of decision-making committees like parent-teacher associations (PTAs)
Or if time allows try to volunteer here at the school.
-
Supporting special events like science fairs, art days, or cultural celebrations
-
Helping with trips, or projects, or classroom centers.
